Update on Temporary Closure
Posted 14/09/2025
We plan to reopen soon after a period of prolonged closure. The latest social media post details as follows:
"Good news! For the first time in nearly 10 months, we are now officially bird flu free!
It has been a long and testing time, but we have had immense support from APHA/DEFRA, Crowshall Vets, BFREPA, fellow egg producers, and our amazing staff (Jo, Colin, Ben, & Danni). Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
We could not have done any of this without the care and guidance from one very special lady (Carren), Thank you!
Our new hens arrived a few weeks ago. After a period of quarantine, of which we are now free, they have started to lay some eggs and will very soon be heading outside.
Watch this space for news of our re-opening of the egg shed…

Some of you may have noticed our egg shed has been closed over the past week.
Despite our very best efforts to keep our hens as healthy, safe and as happy as we can, it is with very heavy hearts, and it saddens us to say, that we have succumb to bird flu.
APHA/DEFRA have been helping us through this difficult time. We are completely devastated to say that all 17,800 hens have been lost to help prevent any further spread of this terrible virus.
Unfortunately, this means our egg shed will be closed for the foreseeable future, but we plan to reopen and will let you know as soon as this changes.
We are still in shock and somewhat overwhelmed by it all but would like to thank you all for supporting our family farm!
